I barely knew her, but still it's hard for me to accept this new normal. She had cancer, so her death was no big surprise but I'm still in disbelief.
I know that it's true, and that it will from now on always be true.
It doesn't matter though because I don't want it to be true.

Even though I hardly knew her, she still was a part of my life. I have three memories of her.
The first was in first grade, our play was about insects. Everyone was a different bug, but some people were flowers. Then, in second grade, I was in the read aloud, I recited a few lines of the Rolly Polly Spider. I dressed up like a bee. I wore her bee costume.
The second was in the sixth grade, she was diagnosed.
The third is today, April 19th, 2008, and she ceased to be.

I'm getting used to this new normal. I know life will continue as it always has.

I know that death is part of life. People are born and die everyday. And now it's finally clicked that it's the stuff in the middle that really matters. That's makes a fourth memory.
